PROJECT LEADER SUBSTATION (advance profile)

To contribute to Europe and Belgium’s ambitions for the Energy Transition, we have foreseen to upgrade its high voltage grid in East-Flanders through the realisation of the Baekeland-project.

The high-voltage station Baekeland will meet the growing electricity needs in Ghent Seaport (electrification of key players, electrolysers,…) and stand for optimization of energy flows from offshore infrastructure such as new Belgian windfarms situated within the “Princess Elisabeth Windfarm zone” (Modular Offshore Grid 2), as well as foreign countries.

The substation consists of

• Multiple AC substations at 380kV, 150kV with both GIS & AIS technology
• 4 Phase-Shifter Transformers
• 4 Power transformers 380/150 kV
• Multiple 380kV AC cable systems
• Multiple 150kV AC cable systems

Your mission:

As Project Leader Substation:
 

• You report directly to the Baekeland Program Manager.
• You collaborate with the Baekeland Project Leader
• You will be part of the team that manages the design, procurement and construction of the AC substations and transformers. Your responsibilities can consist among others out of the following:

• Design
  • Conceptual design together with experts, designers and outsourcing partners
  • Follow-up engineering studies
  • Review studies and get approval from experts, designers and partners

• Management of material
  • Participate in procurement of the key equipment
  • Coordinate the logistics for key equipment
  • SPOC towards the suppliers

• Execution and construction
  • Participate in procurement of the EPCIC-FIM Contract to build the substation
  • Participate in the procurement of smaller execution contracts
  • Help compile the EPC contract
  • Follow-up the EPC contract

• Project management
  • Collaborate on budgeting
  • Collaborate in updating the project scope
  • Collaborate in updating schedule and scenario

• You seek out design opportunities to bring additional benefit to the project
• You ensure timely delivery as well as quality and safety of your assigned tasks
• You cooperate and coordinate with multi-disciplinary team of experts and internal/external consultants to integrate electrical, civil, and mechanical engineering aspects into the project
• You are a safety leader, continuously looking for technical improvements and for safety enhancements by making a proactive contribution to the feedback process
